“Mr DeMille, I’m ready for my close up”

I love old films. I love studying them, watching them, and picking them apart. They embody an era of filmmaking that was so clever and unique. So it was exciting when Billy Wilder’s ‘Sunset Boulevard’ was on the VCAA list for English texts. My school has really embraced this with our students writing their creative SAC based on the ideas and issues within this film.

The amazing team that I work with has produced a podcast on this film where the three of us have talked about our thoughts about ‘Sunset Boulevard’ and ways into which to approach the creative SAC. Sonia Murr, the Academic Dean of English alongside myself and Ashleigh Cavalin, form the Year 12 teaching team at our school. Sonia came up with the idea of producing this podcast to share with our students as well as others who are studying this incredibly provocative film. She has kindly granted me permission to share it on Ronnie’s Ramblings with you all.

Watch this space with more podcasts to follow.
